TRIN-I-TEE 5:7 "Not only do we have flavor, but we have a message too!!!" "We can be stylish, hip, and saved," says Trin-i-tee 5:7, the next explosive smooth as silk, R&B flavored phenomenon from B-Rite Music. Following the trail blazed by the wildly successful Kirk franklin and god's Property comes Trin-i-tee 5:7, the awesome all female trio that promises to change the way we view women in gospel music. "We want to be what we didn't have when we were younger. we didn't see women in gospel that got our attention, that looked like us, that were young, and fashionable." This young, talented, cutting edge group consists of Chanelle Haynes, whose smoky tenor vocals are peppered with traces of Toni Braxton and Anita Baker; Angel Taylor, whose angelic soprano voice reminds you of Brandy and Monica; and Terri Brown, whose soul stirring alto makes you feel like you are at a holy ghost filled revival. together, these powerful harmonious voices blend perfectly to deliver a sweet, spiritual, satisfying feast for the mind, heard and soul. The name Trin-i-tee 5:7 is taken from 1 John 5:7, which speaks of three becoming one to bear witness of christ. These three became one when new Orleans-based entrepreneur Kenneth grant, sought to create a cool, exciting, all female group that has secular appeal but is sold out to the Lord. While at his church, greater St. Stephens Full Gospel Baptist Church, he was blown away by a solo sung by Chanelle. he immediately concluded that she would be part of this group. Chanelle, while eating at a fast food restaurant, "coincidentally" ran into Angel, an old high school friend she had competed against in several contests. Angel was asked to join Chanelle and Kenneth completed the threesome with Terri, a soloist in his church's Young Adult choir. Trin-i-tee 5:7 was born! When Vicki and Claude Lataillade came to New Orleans, Trin-i-tee 5:7 auditioned for them in Chanelle's den. As they sang "Father", one of the songs they wrote, Chanelle knew in her heart they would be signed. This was confirmed, in a couple of days later, when Claude called and immediately signed them to his label. Since being signed with B-Rite, Trin-i-tee 5:7 has been busy taking the country by storm! In between working on the album and photo shoots, they've been leaving audiences wanting more. They 'tore the house up' and received a standing ovation when they opened for Kirk Franklin and God's Property. These talented young ladies "had church" at the House of blues in chicago. they were one of the artists featured at The Bobby Jones Explosion and were invited back to his birthday party. Finally their highly anticipated collection of gospel, R&B, and hip hop is complete. the album, scheduled for release in July 1998 will feature their first single "God's Grace", a gospel ballad produced by R. Kelly; "God's Blessing", written by Kirk franklin, a song that tackles domestic violence; a remake of the Staple singers classic crossover hit "Respect Yourself", was produced by Soulshock and Karlin, the writers of Toni Braxton's "I Love Me Some Him"; complemented by two Buster and Shavonni productions: "Call His Name" and "Pray for A While". From the funky danceable groove, "Sunshine", written by the Boom Brothers and remixed by Big Yam (the secret weapon behind the "Stomp" remix), to the acoustic guitar driven "Holy and Righteous", to the updated but traditional "Mary Don't You Weep" (produced by Kevin bond), these three melodious voices create a masterpiece of harmonious sound. Other girl groups can sing so, what's so special about Trin-i-tee 5:7? Are they just another girl group? "There are plenty of girl groups that have wonderful make-up, tight dance steps, and cool gear, but they aren't saying anything. Most of them are selling sex, sex, and more sex, because that's all they have to offer. They are singing about this empty love and that "hurt me" love. But we are singing about a love that won't hurt you, a lover that will never leave you, the best love anyone, male or female, could have." "Believe me, we are into wigs, make-up, choreographed shows, the works, but most importantly, we are ministering to people's souls. We want to prove that you don't have to look or be 'homey' or 'corny' to sing gospel music or be saved. You can look like "all that" and be an ambassador for Christ. You can be 'fly', and be completely sold out for Christ." These gifted young ladies have unforgettable voices, great songs and great stage presence.
